Welcome to the all new Phil Irons Wood Turning website. I am the sole importer of Vicmarc Lathes, Chucks and Accessories and Woodcut turning products here in the UK and Ireland, supplying direct to consumers since June 2001. My business aim is to only provide the very best quality equipment available today and I will only supply products that I believe are a benefit to turners rather than just the latest gimmick. When demonstrating I am constantly asked "Where can I get that?" So now if I use it, I stock it. That way you know that everything on this site has been tried and tested and above all used on a regular basis.

Vicmarc Machinery

I have been using Vicmarc lathes since 1997 and have been the agent since June 2001 so I think I can help you choose the lathe or chuck that is right for you. If you would like to test-drive a lathe come and visit us in Stratford-upon-Avon and put any of the lathes to the test in the purpose built workshop.

Woodcut Tools

I have been using Woodcut tools since 1990 and have seen all the variations of their hollowing tools, after all this time they are still my favourite deep hollowing tool. I regulary use the Bowlsaver and the only sharpening system I use is the Tru-grind. They have some exciting new products which you can see in the shop.

Courses

I hope to be able to offer more courses from some of the world's best-known woodturners each having their own specialist field of expertise.

I run a variety of courses mainly using wet wood, teaching the techniques needed to successfully make and decorate hollow forms.

I will be demonstrating again at the Yandles Autumn Show, 5th & 6th September. The next two exhibitions will be the 25th Anniversary Irish Guild Seminar 4th - 6th Oct 2008 at Sligo in the north west of Ireland, which promises to be a great event, and the following weekend is the new woodworking show at Stoneleigh Park 10th - 12th Oct 2008. Peter Hewitt, the owner of Woodcut Tools is coming over from NZ for both events. we will be showcasing the new Pro-Mount Detailing Stand and well as all the other Woodcut products.
